Did you know that Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in America? Ilda & Rijad celebrated their wedding last summer and brought the Arthritis Foundation to our attention by directing their charity donation to this cause. Arthritis is very common, but is not well understood. Actually, it is not a single disease; it is an informal way of referring to joint pain or joint disease which can affect people of all ages – more than 50 million adults and even 300,000 children! The Arthritis Foundation helps conquer everyday battles through life-changing information and resources, access to optimal care, advancements in science and community connections. Their goal is to chart a winning course, guiding families in developing personalized plans for living a full life – and making each day another stride towards a cure.      Susan & Richard celebrated their wedding in July and chose our Foil wedding favors with amaretto and milk chocolate truffles. Their ribbons were leaf green tied on our natural kraft favor boxes and their Option 3 charity cards promoted and raised awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project (website). Best of luck!!!

We have many donations from our wedding favors that go to the Wounded Warrior Project. They are an excellent organization that does wonderful work for our injured military and their families. The Wounded Warrior Project was founded in 2002 in Roanoke, Virginia by John Melia with the assistance of family and friends. Melia had himself been severely wounded in a helicopter crash while serving in Somalia in 1992. Besides John, the original founders of WWP include Jim Melia (John’s brother), John F. Melia (John’s father), Al Giordano and Steven Nardizzi. These veterans and brothers were moved by the difficult stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq. The resulting objective was to provide tangible support for the severely wounded and help them on the road to healing, both physically and mentally. What had been initially viewed as a small contribution (compared with what the warriors had sacrificed while serving our country) has become WWP’s signature program: WWP backpacks delivered bedside to wounded warriors.

“We chose our charity, The American Lung Association, because our family is widely affected by some sort of lung disease or cancer. Frank’s grandfather passed away from Lung Cancer, Lori’s sister is affected with asthma, and Frank’s father quit smoking years ago and still remains cigarette free. This is just a little bit of our story…”

Lori and Frank’s lovely American Lung Association’s (visit their website), wedding favors were our Twist favors with raspberry & caramel chocolate twist truffles. Their ribbons were petal peach (please excuse the apparent difference in the ribbon colors they are the same favors – lighting is different in center photo).  Congratulations to Lori and Frank and the best of luck!!!

“As our celebration winds down “Never Forget the Importance of Giving to Others” – with much Love Frankie – Richie and Maurice.” We couldn’t have said it better. Congratulations to Richie & Maurice!!!  Their chocolate wedding favors were our Foil Assortment (4 assorted foil truffles), with scarlet ribbons tied in our “modern” style. Their charity donation obviously went to St Jude Children Hospital (website). St. Jude works tirelessly with many other cancer research organizations such as American Cancer SocietyPediatric Cancer Foundation and Cancer Research Foundation to help eradicate all childhood cancers. Although cancer has no age or gender boundaries it affects millions of people & especially kids worldwide.

“It made us so happy to have found Truffles for a Cause. My husband and I wanted to donate to a charity (Lupus Foundation), dear to us but we also wanted our guests to have a memento from our special day. Truffles for a Cause delivered just that. These favors were so appreciated by our family and friends at our wedding. We truly enjoyed working with them. Finally, I have to mention how much we appreciated that they printed some of the cards in Spanish for our Spanish-speaking family members.”
